PROCUREMENT PRACTICE

Preparing a furniture brief

A clear brief helps compare suitable options and estimate the complete furnishing package.

Start with the room

Prepare a plan, dimensions and door and window positions. Mark circulation, cabinet opening space and the furniture access route.

List the complete package

Organise the list by room. For each item, record quantity, purpose, preferred finish and whether it is essential or optional.

Compare the same specification

Compare the substrate, finish, hardware, included components, packaging and delivery. Save the reference image and card link for discussion.
