House entrance: organised from the doorstep

Separate outdoor belongings from living areas, with space for shoes, coats and everyday essentials.

Finishing a house entrance hall

Design reasoning

Suggested area: 8–14 m²

The sequence starts at the entrance: put down bags, sit, remove shoes and store coats. Closed storage reduces visual clutter while an open area serves everyday items. An open wardrobe should not block the route indoors. The 8–14 m² range refers only to the entrance, not the whole house.

Materials and furnishing

Practical flooring, cleanable fronts and replaceable entrance textiles. Select flooring, threshold heights and junctions together. China sourcing needs a dimensioned furniture, hardware and finish schedule, not only an interior image.

Before implementation

Check the external door, staircase, heating and electrical panel; dirty and dry areas, wet clothing and equipment access. The concept excludes structural alterations, heating calculations and whole-house design.

What to send for adaptation
  • A dimensioned plan, heights, windows and doors, plus photos of the current condition.
  • Who will use the space, what to retain and what to change.
  • Priorities for budget, timing, materials and maintenance.

What the brief can include

Layout reasoning

Furniture layout, use scenarios and constraints. Compare alternatives by practicality as well as appearance.

Materials and procurement

A finish, furniture and lighting schedule with dimensions and priorities forms the basis for discussing China manufacturer and showroom sourcing.

Implementation preparation

A list of needed drawings, checks and samples. Price, delivery, installation and permitted substitutions are agreed before ordering, not inferred from a rendering.

This is a proposed scope for discussion, not a ready documentation package. Surveys, drawings, engineering calculations, approvals and supervision are specified separately in the contract.

How to assess a design concept

Concept versus working design

A concept explains how zones connect, why furniture is selected and which materials shape the interior. It establishes a direction but does not contain every fabrication or installation dimension and detail.

The next step is a survey and an agreed documentation schedule. One property may need a local furniture layout; another may require elevations, specifications and specialist engineers. This site presents concepts, not construction-ready designs.

How to compare two procurement offers

Compare like-for-like dimensions, materials, hardware, finishes, quantities and set contents. Similar images do not establish identical construction or quality. Account separately for packaging, transport, assembly and maintenance.

Approve a physical sample and allowed substitutions before a batch order. For resorts, retaining references and repeat-order options matters: a one-off saving can complicate repairs and furniture replacement.

What most affects the budget

Area is not the only factor. Existing condition, alterations, bespoke furniture, engineering constraints and delivery sequence also matter. Separate essentials from wishes and identify what can be retained.

Use one schedule and consistent inputs when comparing options. A total without scope, exclusions and delivery terms cannot show final expenditure. We do not promise a price or timeline from an illustration alone.
